Alec’s Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning LLC has been serving homeowners since April 4, 1970, but owner Alec Houle has been cleaning carpets and upholstery since 1962. For more than five decades, we have provided professional carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, area rug cleaning, stain removal, and fabric protection for homeowners throughout Greater Boston within the 495 beltway and Cape Cod, while also occasionally serving clients outside those areas.
Over the years, we have cleaned everything from everyday family room carpeting and upholstered furniture to fine Oriental rugs, wool carpeting, custom stair runners, delicate upholstery fabrics, and specialty textiles found in some of the area’s finest homes, condominiums, and seasonal residences.
Our goal has always been simple: do the job carefully, do it properly, and treat every home and every textile with respect.
More Than 60 Years of Hands-On Experience
Alec Houle has been working in the carpet and upholstery cleaning field since 1962. That level of experience matters because different carpets, rugs, and upholstery fabrics often require very different cleaning approaches.
A wool carpet should not be treated the same way as a synthetic carpet. A fine Oriental rug should not be cleaned like ordinary wall-to-wall carpeting. Upholstery fabrics can vary widely in how they respond to moisture, cleaning agents, and stain-removal techniques.
Because of that, we do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every job is evaluated individually so the safest and most effective cleaning method can be selected for the material involved.

Our Rug Cleaning Plant in Abington
In 1979, Alec built our office and rug cleaning facility in Abington, Massachusetts specifically to clean and dry area rugs properly. That facility remains a central part of our business today.

Today, Alec still manages the entire operation personally.
